West Virginia Mountaineers

Twenty-two of the Mountaineers’ 32 games in 2025-26 stayed under the total, a rate eleven Division I teams beat. They allowed 64.75 points a game, and only eight teams allowed fewer.

The under

West Virginia’s games finished under the posted total 22 times and over it 10, 68.8%. That under rate put West Virginia tied for 12th of 365 Division I teams. Totals were set low and still not reached: the 5 February win at Cincinnati ended 59-54 against 127.5, and the home loss to Utah 61-56 against 133.5.

The Mountaineers scored 69.19 a game and allowed 64.75; eight teams allowed fewer.

Home and away

They were 15-3 at home and 3-6 on the road, with five neutral-site games. Against the spread the road record was also 3-6, a 33.3% rate that left 31 teams below them and 12 level. At home they covered 10 of 18, and the 17 priced home games made 2.06 units, including underdog wins over Kansas 86-75 at +114 and BYU 79-71 at +136.

Favored, and short of it

As favorites West Virginia won 12 of 17 but covered 7. One unit on them in the 16 priced games lost 3.35, a figure 315 teams beat. Utah at -575, a 61-56 home loss on 18 February, was the costliest defeat, ahead of Xavier at -270 in November. As underdogs they covered 8 of 15 and won 6, three of them on the road at Arizona State, Cincinnati and UCF.

The Big 12

Cincinnati and UCF lost both meetings and West Virginia covered all four; those four games made 4.78 units on the moneyline, the Cincinnati road win at +200 the largest share. BYU split, then won 68-48 in the Big 12 tournament.

After the season the Mountaineers won the College Basketball Crown: Stanford 82-77, Creighton 87-70 and Oklahoma 89-82 in the final.
