The Eagles won 12 games in a row between January and February 2026 and covered the spread in only four of them. Laying points with Winthrop all season returned 7 covers in 24.

Twelve wins, four covers

From 3 January to 19 February the Eagles did not lose: 12 straight wins, the longest run of their season. Against the spread the same run went 4-8. Laying 9.5 to Radford at home, they won 76-75. Laying 13.5 to South Carolina Upstate, 68-64. Laying 23.5 to Gardner-Webb, 88-77.

As favorites over the whole season they went 19-5 and covered 7 times in 24, 29.2%; 323 Division I teams did better as favorites, 37 worse.

The month-by-month swing

November was the exception, 7-1 against the spread, three of those covers as big road underdogs at Arkansas, Nebraska and George Mason. After that: 0-5 in December, 4-4 in January, 1-6 in February, 0-3 in March. Over the season, 12 covers in 31, 38.7%.

Short prices that lost

Three defeats did most of the moneyline damage: at home to Coastal Carolina 88-84 at -1800, at North Dakota 90-88 at -950, at Longwood 82-70 at -380. One unit on the Eagles in every priced game lost 4.62 over 30; at home it made 2.22, away it lost 7.07.

Big South opponents

Coastal Carolina won both meetings, the first 72-66 on its own floor with Winthrop at -150 in November. Charleston Southern lost two of three and covered all three. Presbyterian lost all three, by a combined 16, and covered twice. High Point lost 92-75 in January with Winthrop at +136, then beat them twice, the second time 91-76 in the Big South tournament final.

The total

Sixteen unders and 15 overs, nothing to lean on, from a team that scored 83.65 a game, 28th in Division I, and allowed 75.47.
