Villanova Wildcats

Villanova lost twice in 23 games as a favorite in 2025-26; nine Division I teams returned more on their own favorite prices. When the Wildcats were the underdog, they won three times in nine.

Trust the favorite

Villanova went 24-8, and the line told you which way most of those games would fall: six of the eight losses came with the Wildcats getting points. As favorites the Wildcats were 21-2 and covered 14 of 23. Backing Villanova at those prices made 3.9 units, a short-price return that nine teams beat. Both defeats came on Villanova’s floor or a neutral one: Creighton 76-72 at -225 in January, and Georgetown 78-64 at -325 in the Big East quarterfinal.

Every game had a price, all 32, and over the full season the moneyline finished 1.52 units up.

Two teams it could not beat

Four of those six underdog losses came against two opponents. St. John’s won 86-79 at Villanova and 89-57 at home, covering both. UConn won 75-67 and 73-63; Villanova covered the first, getting 11.5. Against the rest of the Big East the Wildcats lost only to Creighton and Georgetown, once each.

The heaviest defeat was at Michigan, 89-61 at +1300 on 9 December. Among the underdog wins: Wisconsin 76-66 at +145 and at Butler 85-67 at +124.

The spread and the total

Against the spread Villanova covered 19 of 32, and 8 of 12 away from home. December was the cleanest month, 6-1 with five covers, including a 90-63 win over Penn in the Big 5 Classic final. Villanova won and covered all three Big 5 games, over La Salle, Temple and Penn, by 15, 18 and 27.

Nineteen of 32 games went over; only 35 teams had a higher over rate, two an identical one. The NCAA tournament lasted one game, a first-round loss to Utah State.
