There are plenty of divisional matchups on their way to Week 13. One of the most important ones will go down on Sunday Night Football.

The Denver Broncos (6-5) head to Kansas City to face the Chiefs (7-4) in an AFC West showdown. The Broncos can find themselves contending with the Chargers if they can pull off a win here. Unfortunately, the Chiefs are on a roll.

Kansas City has won four straight games with a recent win over the Dallas Cowboys. To be fair to Dallas, they were dealing with a ton of injuries last week.

However, that doesn’t take away from the fact that the Chiefs are putting together a lot of wins. For a team that seemed lost this season, they fought their way back to the top of the division quickly.

Broncos at Chiefs Preview, Stats and Trends

The Denver Broncos are 3-1 in their last four weeks, pretty similar to the Chiefs, actually. However, they now have to make a decision as to who their starter will be. Teddy Bridgewater had to leave last week after suffering a leg injury.

He is, however, listed as probable for the game against the Chiefs on Sunday. The good news is they have a competent backup in Drew Lock.

Our main question for the Broncos is how they’ll deal with the passing attack of the Chiefs. There is a laundry list of players that are listed “out” on defense for the Broncos. Even some of their pass rushers won’t be making their way into the game.

If Patrick Mahomes is allowed some free time in the pocket, he’ll make the Broncos defense pay.

The Chiefs come into this game trying to find a way to securely hold onto the division. A win over a division rival is definitely a way to do that. Obviously, the first thing they’ll need to do is play strong on defense.

Through the last few weeks, the Chiefs have performed well on defense; they’ll need to keep it up. The Broncos aren’t a team to take lightly.

On offense, pushing the ball downfield will obviously be a priority for Kansas City. They love big bombs downfield and will try to hit a few early. With some key players injured on defense for the Broncos, the Chiefs will likely have the opportunities.

The key here is that they take advantage of each opportunity, especially with how large the spread is.

After taking a look at each of these teams, one thing really stands out, injuries. Unfortunately for the Broncos, they aren’t coming in at full strength. If they had, we’d likely take them to cover the ten-point spread in this game.

However, with the injuries piling up on defense, we have to go with the Chiefs in this one.

The Chiefs have an awful record against the spread; we understand that. However, they’ve beaten their last two opponents by ten points or more.

Both of these teams we consider to be at the same level or higher than the Broncos. We feel that the Chiefs are back in action and will win this game and cover the spread.

Denver Broncos vs. Kansas City Chiefs Recap DEC 6TH 2020

Quarterback Patrick Mahomes passed for 340 yards and two touchdowns in the snow Sunday as the Kansas City Chiefs won their fourth straight, stuffing the Denver Broncos 23-3 at Kansas City, Mo.

Snow began accumulating three hours before kickoff and persisted throughout the game. That didn't prevent Mahomes from going 27 of 34, though he threw an interception, as the Chiefs (10-4) continued their quest for a first-round bye in the playoffs after already clinching the AFC West title.

The victory was the ninth straight for Kansas City over Denver (5-9), which generated just 251 yards (139 in the first three quarters) coming off back-to-back wins in the first two starts by rookie quarterback Drew Lock.

Travis Kelce became the first tight end in NFL history to record 1,000 yards receiving in four consecutive seasons. He snagged 11 catches for 142 yards. The Chiefs totaled 419 yards.

Mahomes went 7-for-7 engineering a touchdown on the first series of the second half, spotting Kelce and Tyreek Hill three times each. Hill scored on a 5-yard grab. Mahomes then scrambled to find Sammy Watkins for a two-point conversion to complete the game's scoring.

Lock, a second-round pick from Missouri, grew up just 15 miles from Arrowhead Stadium in Lee's Summit, Mo. He passed for 208 yards in his homecoming, going 18 of 40 with an interception.

Denver wide receiver Courtland Sutton passed the 1,000-yard receiving mark with four catches for 79 yards.

The Chiefs scored on all four of their first-half possessions, settling for field goals of 23, 24 and 44 yards by Harrison Butker after a touchdown on their first drive.

A 41-yard strike from Mahomes to Tyreek Hill capped a 79-yard march in four plays to open the scoring. Dustin Colquitt botched the snap on the PAT and threw an incomplete pass.

Butker's field goals enabled the Chiefs to lead 15-3 at the break after the Broncos committed more first-half penalties (seven) than they had first downs (five).

Lock drove them 61 yards for their only score, connecting with tight end Noah Fant for 43 yards on fourth-and-1 before Brandon McManus booted a 32-yard field goal.
